Chapter 9 - Unexpected Truth

An awkward silence hung between them. Judy was glancing at his face that was unreadable.

“Raid are you still angry at me?”She asked him, thinking of the events that occurred after she accepted Hal´s protection. He gave a small sigh not looking at her as he answered.”If you are talking about what happened between Hal and me, no I´m not angry at you. I’m more frustrated with myself.“Silence again. Judy tried to speak up to break the awkwardness but she closed her mouth when she remembered her dream. It was my fault. I ran off and didn't even listen to him when he wanted to explain when he wanted to talk. Luckily they reached her apartment and Raid pulled the car into the car park. They went upstairs and inside, still without exchanging a word.“Please make yourself at home. Ehm, I don't have a guest room. You can have my bed I'll sleep on the couch.”She offered him.“No, you take the bed and I sleep on the couch. Go on get yourself changed already. You look like you ́ve come out of a warzone.”He looked over her ripped and blood-smeared clothes. Worry and pain showed in his beautiful silver-gray eyes.

Judy blushed self-consciously.“Right, I forgot about that! Are you hungry, thirsty? There should be something in the fridge, help yourself. I can cook us something. I ́ll be right back!”With these words, she hurried off. As she returned, she found Raid already busy in the kitchen. Her arms were laden with spare blankets and pillows, she went to the living room to make him a comfortable bed on the couch. Upon returning to the kitchen she peeked over his shoulder. “What are you making? Something smells good.”He stiffened slightly at her closeness.“It is good, I ́m making curry.”He simply said and shrugged.“What can I do to help?” “You can set the table, we can eat as soon as the rice is cooked.”They were sitting down to eat, Judy took a bite and her eyes grew wide.“This tastes absolutely great!”Raid was laughing at her reaction.

“Well, I had enough time to learn. I enjoy eating human food from time to time.” Judy sensed an unspoken, unlike Hal. This is awkward. Judy thought to herself. I ́ll have to talk to him, it will be bad if things stay the way they are now. After their meal, Judy ushered Raid out of the kitchen.“You cooked, I'll do the dishes. It's only fair. Go on.”And it gives me time to think about what to say to you.

After she finished she went to the living room and knocked on the door.“Come in.”She entered and found Raid sitting on the Couch reading.“Raid can we talk?” Judy asked carefully. He put his book down and sighed.“I was thinking the same thing. We know each other too long to keep things this awkward.” “Listen, I´m sorry.”They both said at the same time. They looked at each other surprised and started to laugh. “Listen when Hal said that I got cold feet.
